Raleigh – On Friday, the North Carolina General Assembly passed the biennium state budget.
The budget provides raises for state employees and teachers, substantial infrastructure funding and more.
“Critical appropriations are included for education, state employee and teacher raises, and much more,” Sen. Kevin Corbin (R-Franklin) said in a press release.
“I am also pleased to report that critical funding for our district was included in the final agreement. The budget now heads to the Governor’s desk and I encourage the Governor to sign this responsible bipartisan spending plan into law.
Graham County stands to gain immensely from the passage, which includes:
* $2 million for construction of the new Graham County Justice Center.
* $1.4 million for a new DOT building in Graham County and related capital improvements.
* $1.395 million for water/sewer upgrades for the Town or Robbinsville;
* $100,000 for the Graham County Historical Association, for renovation of the historic Snider General Store.
