Murphy – A new option to help control the local dog and cat population has just been made available to Graham County residents.
After reaching an agreement with local officials, Logan's Run announced Friday on its Facebook page that Graham County residents could now enroll in its SNAP program (Spay/Neuter Assistance Program), in a joint partnership with Tri-State Veterinary Clinic.
Once registration is complete, dogs can be neutered or spayed for $50; cats will cost $25. For an additional $15, you can also get a rabies vaccination and an e-collar on the day of the procedure.
The program is open to low-income residents. Registration can be completed at Logan's Run Rescue Thrift Store, which is located at 3000 U.S. 64 West, Murphy, NC 28906. You must bring a copy of your driver's license with your current address; as well as either an EBT or Medicaid card.
The store is open Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more details, call 828-837-1360.
"This is exactly how we attack the root cause of pet overpopulation – by making spay/neuter affordable and accessible for the families who need it most," Logan's Run said in its announcement.
Graham joins Cherokee and Clay counties as areas enrolled in the program.
