Traffic resumes on busy corridor 5 months after initial closing

There is still a lot of work left ahead before Interstate 40 in the Pigeon River Gorge can re-open to its former four-lane status, as major portions of the eastbound lanes will have to be rebuilt after being washed away during Hurricane Helene.
Jonathan Creek – It may seem bizarre to navigate a two-lane interstate with the typical speed limit cut in half, but it beats the detour that has become the norm.
