Robbinsville – A local civic club that has worked tirelessly for decades to raise money for children with complex medical issues is ceasing operations.
The Graham Star recently received a notice from the Robbinsville Shrine Club, indicating that the local chapter would no longer continue its efforts. Effective Wednesday, the club cited declining membership as one of the primary factors behind the move.
"This decision was made after careful consideration by our leadership team and membership," reads a portion of the release. "While this was not an easy decision, we believe it is the most responsible course of action at this time.
"For many years, the Robbinsville Shrine Club has been honored to serve the Children’s Hospital through charitable events, car shows, raffles and other events. We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support shown by residents, businesses, civic partners and the media."
The Robbinsville Shriners were consistently recognized as one of the top contributing clubs in the Oasis organization, with Robbinsville receiving another special award at the Oasis Shriners' annual banquet in Charlotte on Jan. 4, 2025. Robbinsville Shriners raised $565,812 in contributions during 2024.
Also at the ceremony, Graham County native Chris Hall was installed as the 130th Potentate (President/CEO) of Oasis Shriners, which was founded in 1895. Oasis is one of more than 200 Shrine centers around the world, with a total membership of more than 3,600.
Members annually fundraise and donate more than $1 million for Shriners Children’s, the organization’s philanthropy since 1922.
The notice added that supporters for the Shriners Children's Hospital can still contact Oasis Shriners via phone (704-549-9600). Donations may also be made via mail, to:
