Rosman – In a battle of winless teams, something has to give.
Unfortunately for the Robbinsville Black Knights (0-7, 0-3), the win went in-favor of the home team in Tuesday’s battle at Rosman (1-10, 1-5), with the Knights falling to the Tigers, 53-50.
Individual scorers from the loss were not available by press time.
The victory came after defeats at the hands of Smoky Mountain (67-51) Friday and Cherokee (74-45) Monday.
Against the Mustangs (6-5), both Brock Adams and Chris Wright scored a Knights-high 13 points. Others to score were Seth Lawson 6, Carson Eller 5, Bryce Teesateskie 4, Court Carpenter 3, Dalton Capps 3, Nathan Collins 2 and Jeb Shuler 2.
The loss to Cherokee (6-7) featured Lawson scoring a Robbinsville-best 13 points. Also scoring for the Knights were Drey Keener 8, Carpenter 7, Capps 5, Clayson Lane 4, Eller 4, Adams 2 and Teesateskie 2.
Junior varsity
The Black Knights (4-1) went perfect through the slate in front of them.
In junior varsity action this week, Robbinsville defeated Smoky Mountain 45-42, Cherokee 49-48 and Rosman 70-46.
Kamdyn Jordan’s 19-point game led the way against the Mustangs. Also scoring was Eddie Brooms 9, Bo Rattler 7, Rossi Wachacha 6 and Dasan Gross 4.
Monday’s thriller went down to the wire. Seth Lawson sank the go-ahead bucket with seven seconds left in the game, moments after Jordan blocked a Cherokee pass.
Wachacha would later snag the final steal of the game, as the Braves desperately tried to get the ball to the basket in the closing seconds.
Brooms led the effort with 20 points, five rebounds, one steal and one block. Others to score were Jordan 11, Isaac Wiggins 7, Wachacha 5, Rattler 2, Gross 2 and C.J. Ornelas 2.
