Chock Full O'Knights

Robbinsville takes center stage in All-Conference list

Now that Robbinsville has claimed its 14th 1A state football championship, the Smoky Mountain Conference has released its All-Conference awards for the 2019 campaign.

And almost everywhere you look, you see a representative from the Black Knights.

Dee Walsh was named the conference’s Coach of the Year, while Rylee Anderson received Running Back of the Year honors. The 2019 title was the second under Walsh’s tenure as head coach of his alma mater, while Anderson led the division in rushing yards with 2,034 this season.

Making the All-Conference team were Anderson, Bryce Coats, Nathan Collins, Candler Edwards, Grady Garland, Lex Hooper, Clayson Lane, Kamron McGuire and Rossi Wachacha.

Though the Knights depended heavily on their run game this year, Collins still tallied 887 yards in the air, finishing third in the conference.
Lane was the conference’s leading tackler this year, dropping players on 112 occasions.

Honorable mentions went to Seth Lawson, Aaron Phillips, Christopher Shope and Carlos Wesley. Lawson was fourth in the division with 404 receiving yards.
