Rosman – High-tournament seeding lies ahead for the Robbinsville Middle School basketball program.
Following a pair of road victories at Cherokee and Rosman, the Black Knights finished the season 11-2.
Meanwhile, the Lady Knights dropped their final two games and ended the campaign 9-4.
But whether the teams are entering the championship tournament – which begins Saturday at Hayesville – with a win or a loss is inconsequential; the time to show off is now.
Black Knights
The middle school boys took care of Cherokee on Jan. 9, 72-58.
Donovan Carpenter’s 29-point night led the Knights’ scoreline. Also scoring was Xander Wachacha 25, Bryce Adams 7, Hugh Forbes 6, Tytan Teesateskie 3 and Dane Knott 2.
Monday’s trip to Rosman yielded a 50-23 victory.
Carpenter’s 15 points led the way. Others to score were Wachacha 11, Adams 8, Roman Jones 6, Quinn Jumper 3, Knott 3, Teesateskie 2 and Forbes 2.
Lady Knights
The girls offense struggled at Cherokee, with the Lady Knights falling 62-38 as a result.
Zoie Shuler scored a Robbinsville-best 17 points in the game. Also scoring was Claire Barlow 7, Aubrie Wachacha 6, Karlee Stewart 4, Liz Carpenter 2 and Memory Frapp 2.
The trek to Rosman resulted in a 59-39 loss for Robbinsville.
Barlow put up a team-high 14 points against the Lady Tigers. Also recording point was Shuler 12, Wachacha 5, Carpenter 3, Stewart 2, Frapp 2 and Abby Wehr 1.
“We have had a good season; some ups and downs,” Snider said. “I am proud of their success and know that if we come to play, we have the potential to finish at the top.”
