Frapp unhittable, flexes muscle at Rosman
Rosman – Memory Frapp has certainly been making a name for herself in the Smoky Mountain Conference this season.
But the seventh win of her varsity career might be the most resounding so far.
Rosman (3-6, 3-6) simply had no answers for Robbinsville’s freshman hurler Tuesday, as Frapp struck out seven, walked just two – and more importantly, surrendered exactly zero hits in a 13-0, 5-inning thumping of the Lady Tigers.
“I didn’t know until the game was over,” Frapp admitted Tuesday night.
“No doubt about it; Memory was the big story tonight. She was dominate,” added Lady Knights skipper Billy Knight. “I don’t think a single ball made to the outfield.”
Out of just 59 pitches fired at Rosman batters, 43 were strikes. Of the 18 batters she sat down, 15 of them started their at-bat in an 0-1 hole. Touted several weeks ago as Robbinsville’s (9-1, 9-1) ace, Frapp has been on a bit of a tear lately, boasting a current ERA of 2.05.
“When Billy told me I was the ace and I realized that my team had my back, my confidence went up,” Frapp noted.
Indeed, the Knights’ offense more than gave Frapp some run support – though she also homered and drove in three RBIs alone.
Zoie Shuler had a 2-hit afternoon and brought two runners home, while Aynsley Fink, Maggie Knight, Gabby Hooper and Sydney Farley aided the cause with an RBI each.
Rosman unintentionally lent a hand to the final outcome with five errors.
“We really used our speed to jumpstart our offense,” Coach Knight explained. “We really think we are starting to play to our potential and that could not come at a better time, heading into our final four home games, before the playoffs start.”

Devils conquered
Bryson City – Errors proved costly for Swain County on Friday, as Robbinsville turned a scoreless game into a 5-0 lead in the top of the third and eventually picked up a 6-4 win over the Lady Devils.
Stacey Griggs walked both Fink and Shuler to begin the inning. Fink then scored on a throwing error, before Shuler sprinted home on a wild pitch. An error at shortstop then brought Hooper across the dish.
Memory Frapp later scored on another error, before Ivy Odom launched a solo homer to left-center field, which widened the margin to 5-0.
The Lady Knights did their final bit of damage in the fifth, when Kensley Phillips doubled home Odom.
