Robbinsville – Robbinsville Middle School hosted the first annual Color Run on Saturday, Oct. 5.

The staff was excited about the turnout for the first-ever fun run hosted by the middle school, with about 65 people that participated.

Robbinsville Middle School believes in recognizing students for positive behavior. School funds do not provide the means to reward students. The funds raised at the run will be used to reward students for their positive behavior and encourage their always doing the right thing.

The Color Run raised close to $500.

“We didn’t raise as much as I had hoped, but more than we had,” said Robbinsville Middle School principal Tonia Walsh. “Plus, it was a great team-building opportunity for the middle school staff and a way to bring our staff, students, parents, and the community together.

“It was a fun morning and our staff is already talking about how to make it better next year. Shannon Knott did a great job in organizing the Color Run for Robbinsville Middle School.”

The Middle School has several fundraisers planned for the year, as students are also raising money to help fund their eighth grade coast trip. The trip is expected to cost each student $700 this year.

The Middle School had a grant the last couple of years that helped with the cost of the trip. Last year was the last year of the grant, so that passed $6,500 down to the students. The grant helped with transportation costs.

Students will be given the opportunity to raise the money to pay for their trip by participating in fundraisers. The community has also been very generous with a couple of people calling wanting to help fund a student’s trip.

Robbinsville Middle School appreciates the support of the community and looks forward to other opportunities to work together to make Robbinsville Middle School the best.
