Lady Knights wrap up road trip with pair of victories
Cashiers – Tonight’s game against Hiwassee Dam will be the first time Robbinsville has touched its home court for a volleyball match in 16 days.
A lengthy road trip concluded Monday and Tuesday, with back-to-back trips to the Highlands/Cashiers plateau.
Robbinsville might have suffered its first Smoky Mountain Conference loss during the time away, but the Lady Knights steered the ship back on course by downing Highlands (3-8) 24-26, 25-16, 25-22 and 25-10; and Blue Ridge School (3-4) in a sweep.
Individual set scores from the win over the Lady Bobcats were not received by Wednesday’s press deadline.
Robbinsville (11-2) will head right back on the road next week to continue its non-conference run by traveling to Nantahala (1-5) for a make-up match Monday, Sept. 9 and Enka (7-4) on Tuesday, Sept. 10. The Lady Knights will finally resume league play Thursday, Sept. 19 when they travel to Swain County (7-4) to face the Lady Devils.
In the only JV contest of the week, Robbinsville (3-5) dropped Monday’s opener to Highlands: 22-25, 24-26.
