Hiwassee Dam – The game was destined to be another tightly-knit battle.
That is, until Robbinsville kickstarted the top of the fourth.
Coming off a 6-4 triumph over Hiwassee Dam on March 25, the Black Knights entered the midway point of Friday's road trip to face the Eagles with a 5-2 advantage.
Nine runs later, the entire narrative had changed.
Six Hiwassee Dam outs later, the game was in the books: Robbinsville flew away from "The Nest" with a five-inning, 14-2 victory.
The Knights wasted little time making a statement. Benton Gibby charged home on a Quinn Jumper single in the first, while Rylen Orr later doubled in Jumper during the inning. Peyton Brooks followed with a hit that brought both Easton Shuler and Orr dashing across the dish.
Hiwassee Dam (2-10, 1-6) cut the deficit in half with its first trip up. Luke Harbin scored on an Elijah Cole double, before Cole sprinted in on a Dalton Kester single. Robbinsville (4-7, 3-2) found its fifth run in the second, when Orr singled to drive in Jumper.
The fourth-inning outpour began when Orr continued to aid his own cause, recording another RBI on a hit that brought in Shuler. Jackson Lane scored on an error, before Xamuel Wachacha singled to welcome in Tytan Teesateskie.
Avery Webster trotted home when Gibby drew a bases-loaded walk, moments before Jumper doubled to score Dayne Webster and Wachacha. Gibby made it 12-2 when he crossed the plate on an error, while Orr garnered his fourth and fifth RBIs of the afternoon with a double that drove home Jumper and Shuler to end the fun.
Orr (1-3) struck out 10 and issued just two walks to pick up the victory.
Robbinsville fell 4-3 on the road Tuesday to Murphy (3-8, 3-2). More details about the game were not available by Wednesday's press deadline.
