Jimenez signs with Tennessee Wesleyan
Robbinsville – The Lady Knights’ prolific power forward will carry her talents to the next level.
Yeika Jimenez officially committed to play college basketball for the Tennessee Wesleyan Lady Bulldogs – an Athens, Tenn. private university that competes in the NAIA’s Appalachian Athletic Conference – on May 5.
“This feels wild,” Jimenez said. “It has always been a dream of mine to play college basketball. It’s just unbelievable. I’m very excited, but I’m also very nervous.”
A native of Morovis, Puerto Rico, Jimenez brought her basketball acumen to Robbinsville during the 2018-19 school year. Jimenez’s career as a Lady Knight spurned 982 career points, 519 rebounds, 227 steals and 131 assists.
“I love basketball. I can feel that love when I’m on – or off – the court,” said Jimenez. “I’ve loved being a role model; when somebody says they want to do it, I want them to be able to look at me and say, ‘She did it. I can do it.’”
Carson-Newman was an option in Jimenez’s mind, but Tennessee Wesleyan made a huge impact when she visited.
“When I went on the campus tour, it felt like the perfect fit for me,” Jimenez said. “The environment and all the people were very close; it’s a small school. From the day I went, I knew I wanted to be there.”
Jimenez plans to pursue a degree in business management.
