Hendersonville – For the second-straight season, Robbinsville wrestling stood atop the Falcon Frenzy standings.
The two-day tournament – held each year at West Henderson High School – concluded Saturday, with Robbinsville posting 176 team points to wrap up the championship.
Aiding the effort were three individual champions for the Black Knights: Alexis Panama (113 pounds), Loxston Hooper (120) and Kage Williams (195).
Panama’s journey to gold played out after pinning T.C. Roberson’s Geoffrey Meredith, in just 24 seconds; knocking off Gibbs’ Ezra Finstad, in an 11-5 decision; and North Buncombe’s Ivan Valdez in the finals, via pinfall.
Hooper wrapped up his title by knocking off Gibbs’ Brody Ford, by way of a 7-2 decision; Clinton (S.C.)’s Justice Snyder, via third-period pinfall; and East Henderson’s Brady Mathis in the 120-pound finals, in a 10-5 decision.
Williams pinned his way to victory at 195, with North Henderson’s Chico Vega, A.C. Reynolds’ Aiden Green and Rosman’s Jeshua Whited falling to Williams.
Also grappling for Robbinsville were third-place finishers Adair Panama (106) and Avery Phillips (126); fourth-place competitors Bobby Moore (138) and Blake Powers (152); as well as Christian Phillips (132), Willie Riddle (145), Jeremiah Phillips (160), Turner Jackson (170), Kyler Branham (195), Koleson Dooley (220) and Owen Blevins (285).
