Canton – Before Robbinsville could manufacture a reply, the Black Bears had clawed ahead 10-0.
The Knights certainly hoped for a better start to their season, but head coach Brent Icenhower noted several positives after a 5-inning, 12-2 loss to Pisgah (1-1) on Tuesday.
“This game showed us things we need to work on,” Icenhower said. “We made three errors – but offensively, we didn’t strike out but seven times. We put the ball in play; we just hit it to people.”
Graylen Orr and Christian Phillips were responsible for both of Robbinsville’s strikes in the game, with both crossing the plate in the fifth. Alex Knight collected an RBI.
Robbinsville (0-1) travels to Mountain Heritage (2-2) today, before visiting Murphy (0-2) on Monday.
