Rosman – The host school had one chance to make a good impression – and swiftly failed.
In response, Robbinsville scored early and often to dismantle Rosman 61-0 at Silversteen Memorial Stadium on Friday.
Right out of the gate, the Black Knights coughed up the ball on their first play from scrimmage. Heath Reese recovered the gift for the Tigers near midfield and for a moment, Rosman (2-7, 0-5) appeared poised to pounce on the early snafu.
The end result? The Tigers moved the ball exactly two yards from where they started; Robbinsville (6-3, 4-1) then decided playtime was over.
Eli Lambert promptly caught his first of two touchdown passes from Luke Lovin on the next snap and though the Tigers held onto the ball longer their second go-around, Kyzik Teesateskie wasted little time dashing 52 yards to the house.
Another 3-and-out by Rosman transitioned into Tucker Jones snagging a 10-yard catch from Lovin and catching his tiptoes inside the pylon. The Tigers punted again, with Isiac Collins ending a dominant first quarter from the Knights by weaving through for a 10-yard rushing touchdown at the first-quarter horn.
Even punting turned dangerous for Rosman, as Lambert took the next boot 40 yards for another Robbinsville score. The Tigers failed to convert on fourth down in response, which led to Lambert catching a seven-yard zip from Lovin.
Another Rosman turnover morphed into Pacey Cable pulling down a 22-yard Lovin pass with 1:36 remaining before halftime. Luke Green sacked Tigers quarterback Braelon Owen just before the break, to stamp the 47-point outpour.
Levi Roberts recovered a Rosman fumble in the third quarter, but the Knights offense remained idle until the fourth. Even with a running clock, Robbinsville tacked a pair of final insults onto the scoreboard: Braydon Lane found paydirt on a 5-yard rush with 9:50 left in the game, while Elijah Kirkland did the same on a 43-yard scamper with 1:36 to go.
Zander Lucksavage was 7-for-9 on PATs for the Black Knights.
Robbinsville will enjoy its bye week before returning to action on Halloween (Friday, Oct. 31), making the trip to Cherokee (2-6, 1-3) for the regular-season conclusion. The Black Knights will carry a five-game winning streak into the showdown, as the Braves last prevailed against Robbinsville in a 20-7 victory Oct. 8, 2021.
Kickoff at Ray Kinsland Stadium will be at 7:30 p.m.
