With the conclusion of the 2022 spring sports season in the rearview mirror, the All-Smoky Mountain Conference baseball and softball awards were recently announced.
Though no Robbinsville players made the All-Conference list, the future is bright.
Three Black Knights received an honorable mention: Lathan Buchanan, Graylen Orr and Christian Phillips.
A senior, Buchanan had a .364 average in 2022, with 17 singles and six RBI on his resume. Orr batted .327 with three doubles and 13 RBI during his sophomore campaign – and was often called upon to toe the rubber as well, where he logged 18 ⅔ innings of work, going 1-1 with 23 strikeouts.
Phillips also had a solid sophomore year, compiling a .304 average at the dish, with three doubles and 14 RBI. Robbinsville was 7-11 overall this season, with a 4-8 conference mark landing the Knights fifth in the standings.
All-Conference softball players were recognized in the June 30 edition of The Graham Star.
