Lady Knights trumping divisional foes
Hayesville – Four home runs and a no-hitter.
In a season where Robbinsville has a team average of .420 – while one pitcher has a 1.33 ERA and 50 strikeouts – Monday’s blowout at Hayesville (2-3, 0-3) should come as no surprise.
Nonetheless, the Lady Knights continue to impress, with three newcomers joining the 2022 home-run club: Patience Frapp – who hit two – Halee Anderson and Memory Frapp.
“It felt so good to hit my first-ever home run,” Patience said. “Today, we played a game that was almost perfect; everything is just clicking right now for us.”
Inside the circle, Memory (5-1) recorded her third career no-hitter, striking out seven to hold the Lady Jackets at-bay in a 13-0, 5-inning win.
“The pitching Memory brings to the table is top-notch; especially for her only being a sophomore,” Patience added.
“Memory is by far the best pitcher in our conference and we all know that when she is in the circle, she is going to give it her all for our team to end up getting the win.”
Head coach Billy Knight emptied out his reserves in the game, with 18 players appearing in the victory. Patience’s 3-hit, 4-RBI afternoon led the Robbinsville (7-1, 5-0) offense, while Zoie Shuler – who leads the Lady Knights with three homers this year – raked three hits of her own, driving in three runs.
Another sweep
Murphy – Robbinsville started its latest slate with a trip to Konehete Park on Friday, finishing a season sweep of Murphy (3-2, 2-2) off with an 8-5 triumph.
The Lady Knights had to survive a late push by the Lady Bulldogs, who attempted a rally with a 3-run bottom of the seventh.
But Robbinsville’s work at the plate had already inflicted all the damage needed, with Brook Turpin leading the charge in a 4-hit effort. Shuler drove in two runs in the win, as well.
Memory Frapp again struck out seven batters, to earn her fourth win of the season.
Devils exorcised
Robbinsville – The Lady Knights returned to Judy Nichols Memorial Field on Tuesday and promptly chased the Swain County Devils away, picking up a 5-inning, 14-4 win.
A 7-run bottom of the first set the tempo for the Lady Knights. Over the course of the game, Shuler tripled twice, while Anderson, Memory Frapp and Turpin each doubled. Shuler and Turpin drove in three runs each, while Aynsley Fink led the hit parade with three in the game, in addition to two stolen bases.
Swain County (0-7, 0-5) managed to trim the deficit to 8-4 in the top of the third, but Robbinsville carried a 10-4 lead into the bottom of the fifth and put the finishing touches on the victory with a 4-spot.
In her second start of the season, Patience Frapp (2-0) struck out four hopefuls.
