Varsity puts on offensive exhibition in season openers
Robbinsville – Between the Lady Knights and Black Knights, a whopping 163 points sank through the nets during Tuesday’s two-game debuts against Nantahala.
Both programs lit up the scoreboard at a rapid-fire pace, showing total dominance over the visitors from Macon County, with the outcomes reflecting Robbinsville’s efforts: an 80-11 win for the Lady Knights and an 83-21 jousting for the Black Knights.
Robbinsville (1-0) was led by a spirited performance from Liz Carpenter, who dropped 19 on Nantahala (1-4). Aubrie Wachacha collected 16 points, while both Suri Watty and the debuting Bentley Riggins ended the evening with nine points apiece.
Others contributing to the cause were Novie Dutcher 7; Maleah Cox 6; Abby Wehr 5; Anna Williams 4; Memory Frapp and Katie-Lyn Gross, 2 each; and Olivia Lewis, 1.
In the nightcap, Robbinsville (1-0) plucked Nantahala (2-3) from the opening tip, including a 31-4 first quarter that set the mood for the remainder of the evening.
Emerging from the crowded scoreline with top bragging rights was Bryce Adams, who posted 14 against the Hawks. Dane Knott recorded 11, while Nathanael Shope finished with 10 points to his credit.
Rounding out the book was Kenyon Swimmer 9; Donovan Carpenter, Isiac Collins, Roman Jones and Darion Ledbetter, with 6 apiece; Quinn Jumper 5; Isaiah Brown and Nathan Frederick, 4 each; and Kyzik Teesateskie 2.
