Robbinsville – Outside of an early challenge, the JV Black Knights could not piece together an offensive series that posed a serious threat in their 2025 wrap-up Sept. 29.
Hosting Murphy four days after heavy rainfall forced the postponement of what turned out to be an unexpected season conclusion, Robbinsville (3-3) had a pair of chances after knocking on the Bulldogs' door in the first quarter – but failed to capitalize.
On the other side of the coin, Murphy struck twice in the affair and held firm to pick up a 14-0 win at Modeal Walsh Memorial Stadium.
The Knights marched inside the Dogs' five-yard line on their first possession, but failed to cross the goal line and ultimately turned the ball over on downs. Later in the quarter, Robbinsville's Devin Burchfield picked off a John Parker Watson pass, but the effort proved fruitless.
Murphy's Aiden Murphy pounced into the end zone for his first of two, eight-yard touchdown rushes with 5:49 left before halftime. Kaden Curtis tacked on a conversion carry to give the Bulldogs an 8-0 advantage at the break.
Braylen Phillips dropped Watson for a loss in the third quarter, which fired up the Knights before their next drive. However, the momentum was squashed when Murphy's Kaden Lee fell atop a fumble.
Brady Watson later pulled down an interception in the fourth for the Bulldogs, which spurned Murphy's other scoring run.
Robbinsville was originally scheduled to play Andrews on Sept. 25, but the game was canceled.
