Bakersville – In a true testament to how talented the JV Black Knights are this season, both of their non-conference opponents failed to score a single point this season.
Aug. 28's journey to Mitchell County resulted in a 36-0 walloping of the 2A Mountaineers, just one week after Robbinsville (2-0) began its year with a 16-0 shutout over the 3A Mountain Heritage Cougars.
In both outings, the "Black Knights Swarm" has only allowed two first downs.
Mason Silvers rushed for 148 yards on 13 carries against Mitchell, scoring three times. Ethan Chekelelee amassed 58 yards on 12 touches, posting a one-yard touchdown and an interception on defense.
Kreed Williams was responsible for the other Black Knights touchdown, rushing in from three yards out and following up with a two-point conversion. Williams had 68 yards on 12 carries in the game.
Walker Lane also recorded a two-point conversion against the Mountaineers and picked up 51 yards on the ground across seven rushes.
Robbinsville begins the Smoky Mountain Conference slate of the season today, traveling to Swain County for a 6 p.m., kickoff.
