East Flat Rock – From the opening whistle of Friday's rain-shortened scrimmage, Robbinsville showed why it will be a viable threat in the race for a 1A championship this season.
The Black Knights crashed the house party at East Henderson, barely giving the Eagles an inch on defense and running up 30 points in a full half of live action. The exhibition was halted by thunderstorms in the area with 6:45 left in the second quarter and – soon after play resumed – was called after an East Henderson player was injured and required medical attention on the field.
Robbinsville made the most of the trip to Henderson County, jumpstarting its offensive flurry when Kyzik Teesateskie trotted across on a 4-yard touchdown with 7:29 left in the first quarter. Luke Lovin fired a pass to Cameron Allison, which turned into a 29-yard scoring success at the 10:29 mark of the second, before Isiac Collins rumbled across the goal line from five yards out with 6:45 left in the half.
Kellen Ensley recorded a safety on the next Eagles possession to run the score up to 23-0, before the Knights closed out the evening when Christian Koeller snagged a 1-yard zip from Lovin.
Zander Lucksavage also went 4-for-4 on PATs in the scrimmage.
