Bryson City – The Knights’ returned to Smoky Mountain Conference play Tuesday with great vengeance and furious anger.
Robbinsville traveled to neighboring Swain County for a 4-game tilt and left Bryson City with three wins in the books, including a pair of blowouts in the varsity matchups: the Lady Knights snapped a six-game losing streak with their highest offensive flurry of the season to defeat the hosts 69-45, while the Black Knights exorcised the demons in a 81-54 shirking.
Liz Carpenter led all the fun for Robbinsville (5-6, 2-1) in the girls victory, dropping 22 on the Lady Devils (2-8, 0-3).
Zaelyn Phillips hit 16, while both Suri Watty and Abby Wehr each connected for 10.
Rounding out the scoreline was Claire Barlow 4 and Jozlyn Garland 2.
Dane Knott also posted 22 for the Black Knights, taking charge of Robbinsville (7-5, 2-1)’s cagers. Bryce Adams put up 14 – running his career mark to 1,039 in the process – while Quinn Jumper had 10.
Others to score were Luke Lovin 8; Nathan Frederick and Darion Ledbetter, 6 each; Kasen Buchanan 4; Logan Callaway, Isiac Collins, Roman Jones, Trey Lambert and Kenyon Swimmer, 2 apiece; and Tytan Teesateskie, 1.
Swain County fell to 5-6 (1-2) in the defeat.
Junior varsity
It was a split decision in the preliminary bouts, as the JV Lady Knights fell to 2-3 in a 34-16 loss; while the JV Black Knights improved to 8-3 with a 57-40 victory.
Eli Lambert paced Robbinsville’s junior varsity boys with 14 points.
Also scoring was Landon Eddings and Bam Nelms, 11 each; Elijah Kirkland and Xamuel Wachacha, 8 each; and Tucker Jones 5.
MyKayla McGuire put up nine points to lead the Lady Knights. Others to score were Novie Dutcher, Ella McGuire and Tiara Welch, 2 apiece; and Chasity Jones 1.
