Robbinsville – Even when the middle school Black Knights are not at full strength, they are still dangerous.
Robbinsville (7-4) was without perennial shooting guard Dane Knott for its Dec. 16 home game against the Swain County Maroon Devils, but even without the Knights’ top scorer, the depth of the roster more than picked up the slack, opening up an 8-0 lead before Swain broke through.
Tillman Adams got hot outside, draining five 3-point shots and helping expound a 44-29 win over the Devils. Adams also had six rebounds and two steals, while Luke Lovin dropped nine points and mixed in four rebounds, four assists and one steal.
Other Black Knights to score were Owen Blevins 6, Isiac Collins and Kyzik Teesateskie with 5 each, and Dane Daniels with 4.
The Lady Knights (1-9) displayed a more aggressive presence inside the paint, but ultimately dropped their game to the Lady Devils, 33-23.
Abby Wehr posted a double-double, with 11 points, 12 rebounds and three steals to her credit. Zaelyn Phillips had five points, nine rebounds, one steal and one assist, while Katie Lyn Gross finished with four points, 10 rebounds and one steal.
Chloe Adams recorded three points, two rebounds and two steals in the loss.

Hayesville – It is one of those games where you are left scratching your head and wondering where it all went wrong.
A lopsided foul count in the second half could have been the culprit, as the Black Knights put up a mere seven free throws after halftime of the Dec. 13 road game at Hayesville.
The Jackets were afforded 30 opportunities at the charity stripe in the same timeframe. Though Robbinsville held the lead for the majority of the affair, Hayesville’s free throws made all the difference down the stretch and resulted in a 37-32 Jackets’ victory.
Dane Knott led the Knights offense with 17 points. Also scoring was Tillman Adams 8, Xamuel Wachacha 3, and both Isiac Collins and Dane Daniels with 2 each.
The Lady Knights fell in the opener at Hayesville, 53-23.
Abby Wehr led Robbinsville with six points. Others to score were Novie Dutcher 5, Anna Williams 4, and both MyKayla McGuire and Daphne Barlow with 2 each.
