Middle school boys now 6-0 on the year
Hayesville – The post-Thanksgiving, turkey hangover failed to affect the Robbinsville Middle School basketball program.
With the Black Knights playing their first game in seven days – and the Lady Knights coming off an 11-day pause – Robbinsville traveled to Clay County and swept the hosting Hayesville Yellow Jackets in both tilts: 33-24 in the girls game and a convincing 62-20 drubbing in the boys affair.
Lady Knights
After starting the game on a hot 14-2 run, Robbinsville (3-2) was able to shake off a sluggish 12-3 second quarter to zero in on victory.
Aaliyah Wolfe led the Lady Knights with 12 points. Zaelyn Phillips delivered seven through the net, while Zayleigh Chekeleelee accounted for six.
Rounding out the scoreline was Zachlan Chekeleelee 4; and both Daphne Barlow and Cassidy Sudderth posting a bucket apiece.
Black Knights
The flawless season for the middle-school boys wasted little time launching, as Robbinsville (6-0) thrived off a 12-4 feast in the opening stanza to build an insurmountable 29-12 lead by halftime.
Landen Eddings emerged to lead the Black Knights scoreline, as Hayesville could not swat the towering center away in a 21-point showing. Cameron Allison put up 11, while Elijah Kirkland posted eight. Also scoring for Robbinsville was Bam Nelms 7; Carsan Snider 6; Xamuel Wachacha 5; and Eli Lambert 4.
