Winston-Salem – The final tune-up before outdoor track & field begins featured three of Robbinsville’s finest athletes.
The annual 1A/2A state indoor track & field meet was held Friday at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, with freshman Chloe Adams, senior Claire Barlow and junior Isiac Collins each representing the Knights in a combined four events at the prestigious event.
Adams and Barlow spent their time in the sand, with both competing in the long jump – and Barlow mixing in a finals appearance in the triple jump, as well. Barlow finished 12th in the long jump (15 feet, 9 inches), while Adams took 15th (15’ 3”). Hugh M. Cummings’ D’Anna Cotton won the state crown with a leap of 18’ 10”.
Barlow placed seventh in the triple jump, with her best effort measuring 33’ 10”. Cotton won the state title in the event as well, with a mark of 40’ 9”.
Collins was 10th in the state in shot put, recording a distance of 44’ 2”. Swain County’s Nse Uffort collected the gold medal with a put of 59’ 10 ¼”.
