Robbinsville – One midseason hiccup aside, the Lady Knights have slayed anyone who has dared to step into their path.
Follow Tuesday's 16-1 dismantling of the Murphy Lady Bulldogs, Robbinsville (8-1) has successfully outscored all of its middle school opposition thus far 109-25. The domination includes a pair of shutouts and three games in which the Knights' opponent has only mustered one run.
To help play the cruel April Fools' Joke, Ella Nelms had a double, a triple and three RBIs against Murphy. Myah Winfrey and Natalee Myers both doubled in the game as well, with the pair each picking up a pair of RBIs. Lakin Orr also had an extra-base hit in the lopsided victory, while Allie Phillips and Bailee Odom both had multi-hit afternoons.
Inside the circle, Nelms tossed a no-no. She struck out nine en route to the win.
Robbinsville had a harder time putting away Hiwassee Dam/Ranger on Friday. After knocking off the Lady Eagles 16-0 on March 25, the Knights fought to pick up an 8-3 victory at Judy Nichols Memorial Field.
Winfrey doubled and tripled in the triumph, while Myers tripled and Nelms doubled. Bristol Odom had two RBIs, while Bailee Odom collected a pair of hits. Phillips stole two bases in the victory, as well.
Between Nelms (nine) and Mylee Webster (six), 15 Lady Eagles were struck out in the game.
The Black Knights (3-6) fell in both of their outings this week, losing a 20-12 slugfest to Hiwassee Dam/Ranger and a 15-1 game to Murphy. Individual stats from the games were not available by Wednesday's press deadline.
