Murphy – Thanks to the 8th grade coast trip and Spring Break, the middle school Lady Knights will have a 19-day gap in-between games.
The rest of the Smoky Mountain Conference is hopeful that the interruption will cool the team off.
Robbinsville (9-1) concluded its action prior to the pause by traveling to Konehete Park in Murphy on April 3. The Knights scored all of its runs before the Bulldogs could produce a whimper, resulting in a five-inning, 12-1 triumph.
Ella Nelms shouldered the bulk of the load for Robbinsville, tripling and driving in four runs at the plate. Inside the circle, she coughed up just one hit while striking out 10 Murphy hopefuls.
Myah Winfrey doubled in the lopsided affair, while Lakin Orr had a two-hit afternoon. Allie Phillips also recorded two RBIs in the drubbing.
With the win, the Lady Knights have now outscored their opposition 121-26 this season.
The Black Knights (3-7) fell 18-2 during the same road trip on Chip Watson Field.
Individual stats from the game were not available at press time.
