Robbinsville – Following a tough slate, the Lady Knights reaped all the benefits of returning back home Tuesday.
Coming off a string of five straight losses, Robbinsville (8-6, 3-3) steered the ship back on course by taming the Rosman Lady Tigers (4-7, 2-4) in a four-set victory: 23-25, 18-25, 25-11, 21-25.
The win was the first for the Lady Knights in the Smoky Mountain Conference since a five-set win Aug. 28 at Andrews. The latest divisional setback occurred Sept. 11, when Robbinsville fell 12-25, 8-25, 10-25 at league-leading Cherokee (12-6, 8-0).
Wedged in-between the conference matches was a visit to Franklin (15-2) on Monday. The 5A Lady Panthers won the outing 21-25, 10-25, 13-25.
JV, middle school
Robbinsville (10-2) went 2-1 in JV action over the last week, falling to Cherokee 24-26, 19-25 on Sept. 11 before rebounding in a hard-fought 18-25, 28-26, 18-26 victory at Franklin on Monday.
The JV Knights then swept Rosman 14-25, 18-25.
Meanwhile, the middle school squad disposed of the Lady Tigers 13-26, 6-25 on Tuesday. Set scores from Sept. 11's middle school match at Cherokee were not received by Wednesday's press deadline.
