Black Knights suffer setback
Andrews – The middle school hoopsters touched the court for the final time in 2024 on Dec. 19, traveling to Andrews and emerging with a mixed bag of results.
The Lady Knights (7-5) won the afternoon’s opener 45-33, while the Black Knights (5-7) dropped a 58-41 contest.
Undaunted by Andrews scoring the opening basket of the game, Robbinsville’s girls responded with an 11-0 run. The Knights’ full-court press overwhelmed the Lady Cats, who coughed up eight steals to the visitors in the first quarter alone.
After opening a 24-14 halftime lead, Robbinsville put the game fully out of reach with a 17-1 third segment.
The Knights’ stat lines were led by Zayleigh Chekelelee, who peppered 17 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block onto the attack. McKynlee Adams finished with eight points and a steal, while Aaliyah Wolfe added seven points, seven rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Rounding out the offense was Kyla Garland 4; Haizleigh Driver 3; and Brooke Cox, Natalie Swimmer and Myah Winfrey, 2 each.
Black Knights
Much like the first outing Nov. 21, the boys kept pace early with the finely-tuned Wildcats. The first quarter evolved into a 7-7 deadlock, but Andrews pieced together a 9-0 run down the stretch to seize the advantage.
Pacing Robbinsville’s cagers was Carsan Snider, who knocked down 20 points and threw in four rebounds, two assists and two steals for good measure. Brayden Allison had 10 points, three rebounds and three steals, while Micah York finished the evening with five points and four rebounds.
Also scoring was Trevor Jenkins 4 and David Guzman 2.
