Hiwassee Dam – After loading up the bus and inputting coordinates for the westernmost school in North Carolina on Nov. 13, Graham County's middle school basketball program took care of business in decisive fashion.
The Robbinsville Lady Knights (2-3) delivered the hosting Hiwassee Dam Lady Eagles a 34-26 loss, while the Black Knights (3-2) soared away from "The Nest" with a resounding 68-25 win.
McKynlee Adams' 16-point afternoon led Robbinsville to victory in the girls game. Lakin Orr finished with nine points, while Kamry Rogers dropped four.
Natalie Swimmer knocked down a three-pointer in the first quarter and Kenzie Williams made a second-quarter bucket to close out the scorebook.
Both Brayden Allison and Carsan Snider tied for the team lead in points against the Eagles, with each connecting for 13.
David Guzman had 12 and Zeller Chekeleelee swished 10 through the net.
Also scoring for the Black Knights was Micah York 8; Landon Silvers and Mason Walkingstick, 4 each; and both Mikhi Dominguez and Canyon Gross, 2 apiece.
Reverse fortunes
Robbinsville – The momentum did not carry over to Monday's home slate with Cherokee, with both programs suffering losses to the Braves.
The Lady Knights trailed 35-8 at halftime, but charged out of the locker room and mixed together a solid showing on both sides of the ball to outscore the visitors 29-13 in the second half.
Cherokee ultimately came out ahead, 48-37.
Adams continued to generate the majority of Robbinsville's offense, posting 25 against the Lady Braves.
Others to score were Swimmer 8 and Orr 4.
The Black Knights kept pace in the first quarter, but faltered thereafter in a 49-34 loss.
Snider landed 10 to take control of Robbinsville's scoreline. Allison recorded nine, while Guzman finished the game with eight.
Rounding out the scoreline were York 4 and Chekelelee 3.
Robbinsville travels to Andrews today, before welcoming Rosman on Monday.
