31 combined runs showcase Robbinsville bats
Cherokee – The Braves never knew what hit them.
Robbinsville made the trip to Cherokee for a middle school baseball and softball tilt Friday, with both the Black Knights and Lady Knights etching respective 11-8 and 20-6 wins.
Black Knights
The Braves were stymied in the early going on the baseball diamond, with Robbinsville (3-7) sending Rylen Orr to the mound as the starter. After a prompt eight strikeouts in three innings, Luke Lovin trotted to the hill for the remaining four segments of work, recording eight strikeouts of his own. Offensively, Rylen Orr and Deacon Hyde smacked two hits apiece, with Ayden Conley, Knox Orr and Tripp Beasley all crossing the dish twice.
Lady Knights
At the adjacent field, Robbinsville’s middle school girls found themselves in a 3-0 hole after the first inning.
Then the bats woke up.
Daphne Barlow and Khaygen Buchanan both doubled in the second and by the fourth, Robbinsville (9-2) led 6-3. Anna Williams then muscled a 3-run shot over the fence to extend the Lady Knights’ lead to 9-3.
All told, Barlow, Presley Caylor, Payton Odom and Kynadee Spencer went 3-for-5 at the plate. Williams and Dreylee Webster were each 4-for-5.
