The Robbinsville Middle School Lady Knights shook off back-to-back losses Nov. 14, upending the visiting Hiwassee Dam/Ranger Lady Eagles 49-35.
Robbinsville (2-3) ran away with the game by opening up a 24-6 lead at the outset of the second quarter. Point guard Zayleigh Chekeleelee made life miserable for the Eagles, producing a 19-point effort to lead the Knights.
Also scoring for the Lady Knights was Myah Winfrey 6; Haizleigh Driver 5; both Zachlan Chekeleelee and Aaliyah Wolfe, 4; Brooke Cox and Natalie Swimmer, 3 apiece; Ella Nelms and Lakin Orr, 2 each; and Kyla Garland, 1.
Sadly, the good vibes did not carry into Monday’s trip to Cherokee. Though spirited, Robbinsville fell 58-45 to the Lady Braves.
Zayleigh Chekeleelee and Wolfe both dropped 12 on the hosts, leading the Knights’ scoreline.
Also contributing was Driver 6; Zachlan Chekeleelee, Nelms and Winfrey, 4 each; Cox 2; and Swimmer 1.
Black Knights
Robbinsville drubbed Hiwassee Dam/Ranger from the opening tip, cruising to a 64-32 victory.
Peyton Weaver just edged Brayden Allison for the Knights’ team lead in points, scoring 21 to Allison’s 20. Carsan Snider and Trever Jenkins tallied eight apiece, while Dayton Weaver added four. Rounding out the scoreline was a basket from Kenai Wolfe and a Micah York foul shot.
Things never got out of first gear Monday, as Robbinsville (3-2) lost 63-22 at Cherokee.
Jenkins’ eight points led the Black Knights’ offense. Snider finished with seven, while Weaver posted five. Mason Walkingstick’s fourth-quarter bucket wrapped up the effort.
