Andrews – Like the dark cloud that lingered over western North Carolina on Tuesday, Robbinsville Middle School rained on the hosting Andrews Wildcats’ parade in the season debut.
The openers had a question mark surrounding them for the better part of a week, as the weather forecast gave little hope in squeezing the contests in. Fortunately for the Graham County hopefuls, the rain stayed away long enough for the Black Knights to pick up an 8-4 victory and the Lady Knights to start the year off with a 6-1 triumph.
Rylen Orr hurled a complete game for Robbinsville Middle’s baseball squad. Along with the starting pitcher’s own success at the plate, backing up his work on the bump were hits off the bats of Peyton Brooks, Benton Gibby, Deacon Hyde, Jackson Lane, Bam Nelms and Easton Shuler. Orr and Shuler also plated two runs each for the Knights; also crossing the dish were Ayden Conley, Nelms, Landon Pollard and Xamuel Wachacha.
Few details were made available to The Graham Star before Wednesday’s press deadline concerning Robbinsville’s softball win, but Lexi Williams did drive in two runs to aid the cause.
