Bryson City – The game was over before it really had time to start.
In the second matchup of the week between Robbinsville (1-7, 0-6) and Swain County (6-3, 5-1), the Maroon Devils brought 18 runs across the plate in the bottom of the first.
That did all the damage needed, as the Knights only produced three hits in a 3-inning, 18-0 loss.
Robbinsville starter Kade Garrison was unable to record an out, while reliever Bryc Garrison gave up seven earned runs and only worked ⅓ of an inning.
Cole Patterson finally resolved the Black Knights’ issues on the hill, working 1 ⅔ innings and only surrendering one hit.
Swain County right fielder Carson Taylor doubled on three separate occasions in the game, while racking up five RBIs.
Tuesday’s road game at Cherokee was rained out and will be rescheduled at a later date.
The Black Knights return to action today, welcoming the Braves for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch at Loudon Orr Memorial Field.
