Local cheerleaders selected for Disney performance
Lake Buena Vista, Fla. – As we enter this season of holiday cheer, two Robbinsville High School cheerleaders are working overtime.
Raylee Knott and Kalyn Cable were among more than 800 high school cheerleaders and dancers from across the entire country to represent the Varsity Spirit brand in the Varsity Spirit Spectacular at Walt Disney World Resort, which was held Nov. 17-20.
Knott and Cable were part of a select group who attended a Varsity Spirit summer camp this past summer hosted by the Universal Cheerleaders Association, the Universal Dance Association, the National Cheerleaders Association, the National Dance Alliance, the United Spirit Association and the Urban Cheerleading Experience.
The talented ladies performed in an exclusive performance at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park before the entire park audience. Along with enjoying a sunny trip to Florida, they had the opportunity to meet cheerleaders and dancers from across the nation and enjoy a magical holiday season at Walt Disney World.
“My experience at Disney was one of the most magical things I have ever experience,” Cable said. “Having little kids come up to me and seeing their smile filled my heart with so much joy. I am so thankful for the opportunity of getting to go, and all to all the people that helped get me there.”
“This experience is one that I will never forget,” Knott added. “I got to do what I love, and I was able to show people that cheer is more than being on the sidelines. I am so grateful for my mom. She has been by my side for the last three years coaching me and pushing me to be the best I can. Without her, this would not have been possible. I am so grateful to God for allowing me to be able to do what I love, and to my family for watching me at home.
The last person I want to thank is my best friend, Kalyn. I am so happy I got to share this with her. She made it 10 times better. I cannot wait to see what the next adventure holds for me.”
Three other Lady Knight cheerleaders – Maleah Cox, Jernie Greene and Katie-Lyn Gross – also made the All-American team and were invited to the event, but decided not to participate. All five of the cheerleaders are excellent athletes, respected leaders and high-academic achievers.
