Columbus – Robbinsville’s shooting season came to an unfortunate end at Saturday’s District 9 Tournament, which was held at the Polk County Gun Club.
Robbinsville fielded two of the 17 teams on hand for the state qualifier, with the Black Knights finishing 10th overall with a total of 3,115 team points, while the “White” Knights placed 16th with 2,506 points.
Robbinsville’s highest team finish was in the hunter-skills competition, where the Black Knights took sixth overall with 560 points.
Individually, Ryan Lynn was the top Black Knight on the board, placing seventh overall with 670 points to his credit. Lynn scored a 195 in archery, 110 in hunter skills, 185 in rifle and 180 in shotgun.
Myley Hyde and Rylen Orr secured 24th and 25th places with respective totals of 580 and 574 individual points.
To qualify for the state tournament – which will be held April 30 in Ellerbe – a team must finish either first or second overall.
Pisgah High won Saturday’s tournament – with 3,534 points – while Andrews placed second with 3,469 points.
