Adams, Phillips earn nationwide scholarship
Robbinsville – A pair of Black Knight seniors were recently awarded for their academic and athletic endeavors.
Brock Adams and Kensley Phillips were selected last week as Robbinsville’s 2022 Heisman High School Scholarship recipients. The nationwide program was launched in 1994 and to date, has recognized more than 600,000 high-school seniors across the country.
Adams is a three-time state champion in track and field (two titles in 110-meter hurdles; one in 300-meter hurdles), and also suits up for Robbinsville’s football and basketball programs.
Adams is ranked 17th in the Class of 2023.
Phillips is a member of the Lady Knights’ volleyball, basketball, and both indoor- and outdoor-track programs. She was recently named the Smoky Mountain Conference Volleyball Player of the Year, and is a part of two relay teams that have set new school records in outdoor track: the 4x100 and 4x200 relays.
She is ranked third in the Class of 2023.
Heisman Scholarship
According to its website, the Heisman High School Scholarship has leveraged the reputation of the Heisman Memorial Trophy as a symbol of great ability combined with diligence, perseverance and hard work.
The Heisman High School Scholarship program extends the Heisman prestige to the nation’s most esteemed high school seniors by celebrating and rewarding outstanding male and female scholar-athletes who understand that the most important victories happen not only on the field, but also in their schools and communities.The program honors the nation’s most accomplished, community-minded high school senior athletes. By inviting male and female students from schools across the country to share their stories of leadership and impact, the program aims to inspire all students to harness their potential, push their limits and use their talents not only to advance their own futures, but to improve the communities and world around them.
