Senior shines in divisional drubbing
Robbinsville – There were 15 runs poured onto the Lady Wildcats in Friday's shortened affair – and yet, one player still managed to stand out from the pack. Lady Knights senior Naomi Taylor posted a perfect game inside the circle, striking out seven Andrews hopefuls at the plate during the three-inning, 15-0 thrashing. To aid her own cause, she also doubled and homered in the lopsided affair, posting four RBIs.
Robbinsville (6-2, 3-0) certainly had plenty of standout performances elsewhere. Daphne Barlow tripled in the victory, while both Ella Atwell and Sophie Roberts doubled. Dreylee Webster drove in three runs on a pair of hits against Andrews (0-4, 0-4), as well.
Close call
Taylor added 11 more strikeouts to her 2025 resume Tuesday, but another win almost eluded the Lady Knights.
Hiwassee Dam (3-4, 3-2) made things interesting by trimming the deficit down to one in the top of the seventh before falling 4-3 on Judy Nichols Memorial Field. Olivia Williams charged home on an Avery McNabb single to close the gap, but Taylor maintained her composure and struck out Bella Stiles to seal the deal for the Lady Knights.
The Eagles struck first, when Brinkley Payne drove in Olivia McNabb on a two-out hit in the third. Robbinsville evened things back up in the bottom of the inning when Suri Watty singled to score Sydney Adams.
The Lady Knights pulled ahead in the bottom of the fifth, when Barlow dashed across the plate on a wild pitch. Hiwassee Dam knotted the affair back up in the sixth, as Avery McNabb scored on a fielding error.
However, it was Robbinsville that ended up with the last laugh. Khaygen Buchanan flew out in the bottom of the frame to drive in courtesy runner Lexie Williams, before Taylor blistered a hit to bring pinch runner Loxley Burke around to score.
