Middle school Knights get into win column
Robbinsville – Through three quarters of the Nov. 4 tilt against Andrews, the Robbinsville Middle School Lady Knights were held to a mere four points.
However, a 16-point fourth segment reversed the Lady Knights’ fortunes, as Robbinsville (1-1) knocked off the Lady Wildcats – who had held the lead the entire game, until the final period – in a 20-17 triumph.
The Knights’ offense finally started clicking in the final stanza, with Robbinsville capping a 9-2 run with the game-tying trey by Abby Wehr connecting at the 4:20 mark, before Chloe Adams sank the go-ahead two with 3:20 left on the clock.
Though Andrews would continue to keep the pressure on, the Lady Knights would not be denied.
With 28 seconds left in the contest, Daphne Barlow launched another go-ahead basket before Katie Lyn Gross sealed the win with a put-back at the buzzer.
Adams had a team-high six points in the game, while Novie Dutcher scored four.
Barlow and Wehr recorded three each, with Gross and Zaelyn Phillips posting two each.
Black Knights
The Nov. 4 nightcap also helped Robbinsville’s middle school boys erase the memory of a sluggish 58-22 season debut, with the Knights besting the Wildcats 37-32.
The contest was a hard-fought affair throughout. The Black Knights (2-1) showed a drastic, aggressive improvement on defense and on the boards, with the team combining for 28 rebounds and nine steals.
Leading the scoreline was Dane Knott, who put up 14 in the game.
Luke Lovin netted 13, while Isiac Collins and Owen Blevins had four each.
Tillman Adams also dropped in a third-quarter basket.
Robbinsville carried the momentum from the victory into a road game at Martins Creek, which the Knights won handily 62-10.
Knott led the crowded Robbinsville scoreline with 12 points. Also scoring was Collins and Xamuel Wachacha, with eight each; Benny Moose, 7; Bam Nelms, 5 points; Lovin, Elijah Kirkland and Eli Lambert, 4 each; and Collins, Blevins, Adams, Tyler Patton, Kasen Buchanan and Tristan Blevins, 2 each.
