Robbinsville’s win streak stops at six
Andrews – After allowing a scant 19 points in the first half, Robbinsville’s offense could not get into a tempo in the second half.
Meanwhile, Andrews had no problem finding the basket after its return from the locker room.
The end result? Robbinsville (10-11, 4-6) saw its six-game winning streak come to a halt against the Wildcats, who did all they could to upset the apple cart by defeating the Knights 55-50.
Kamdyn Jordan led the Knights – in the loss to Andrews – with 18 points. The sibling duo of Brock Adams (junior) and Bryce Adams (freshman) posted 11 each, while both Donovan Carpenter and Xander Wachacha put up five apiece.
More redemption
Robbinsville – Prior to Friday’s loss, the Knights extracted another measure of revenge, splitting the season series with Cherokee by knocking off the Braves on senior night 60-49.
Leading the charge was another strong offensive showing from Jordan, who accumulated 24 points, one block, one rebound and one steal. Wachacha’s night ended with 13 points, two rebounds and one steal, while Brock Adams had 10 points, four steals, three rebounds, two assists and one block.
Also scoring for the Knights were Carpenter 8 and Bryce Adams 5.
Road finale
Hayesville – Jake McTaggart could not be contained in the divisional, regular-season finale.
With 25 points from McTaggart – eight on dunks – and a heavy presence in the paint, Robbinsville was limited to just 39 points and 18 team rebounds in a 61-39 loss to Hayesville (20-0, 10-0), the Smoky Mountain Conference champions.
Brock Adams led the Knights with 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. Carpenter also had 12 points – while mixing in three rebounds and one assist – and Jordan notched eight points, three rebounds and an assist.
Other Robbinsville players to score were Wachacha 3, and both Bryce Adams and Dasan Gross with two each.
Junior varsity
Robbinsville (2-12) was held to just 10 points in the first half of Feb. 3’s junior-varsity outing against Cherokee, ultimately falling to the Braves 64-24.
Isaiah Brown led the Black Knights with eight points, while mixing in five rebounds and two steals. Quinn Jumper had six points, seven rebounds and two steals.
Others to score for Robbinsville were Logan Callaway 4, Nathaniel Shope 3, and Hugh Forbes 2.
Robbinsville went on to fall at Andrews, 47-34.
Jumper leaped to a 13-point game, pacing the Black Knights’ offense. Others to score for Robbinsville were Brown 10, Callaway 8 and Hedden 3.
The Knights dropped Tuesday’s road game in Hayesville, 44-36.
Jumper charged away with 21 points, to lead Robbinsville’s offense. Also scoring was Tanner Hedden 5; Isaiah Brown and Logan Callaway with 3 each; and Hugh Forbes and Nathaniel Shope scored 2 each.
