Black Knights clean up in area competitions
The success of the Robbinsville Marching Band is well-noted.
A journey through the program’s room at the high school reveals a seemingly-limitless collection of trophies, adorning the walls of the massive musical space.
This year, the Black Knights debuted the show “Wanted Dead or Alive,” with the narrative centering around drum major Myley Hyde “robbing” Robbinsville in a fictional Wild West setting. The ensemble all don Western hats to fit the theme and the end result is a fun-filled performance.
Two different competitions agreed, as Robbinsville brought 10 more combined trophies back to compete for space from back-to-back treks to North Henderson (Oct. 26) and Enka (Nov. 2).
North Henderson’s “Knight Tournament” saw Robbinsville take second place in guard, as well as third in percussion, music and band.
The 50th anniversary of Enka’s “Land of the Sky Marching Band Contest” ended with the Knights in possession of second-place trophies for drum major and colorguard, as well as third in percussion, music and class. The group also received the coveted “Enka Jet Award.”
