Middle school programs still undefeated
Robbinsville – They score early and often; they pepper the field with offense.
“They” are Robbinsville Middle’s baseball and softball teams, which are through nine games with a combined 9-0 record.
In a pair of recent home appointments, the Lady Knights (5-0) thrashed Swain County in a 4-inning, 15-0 rout March 13 and toppled Cherokee 13-5 on Tuesday.; the Black Knights (4-0) took care of the Maroon Devils 19-8 and the Braves, 13-3.
Easton Shuler toted the load on the mound against Cherokee, going the distance for Robbinsville. Peyton Brooks, Benton Gibby and Rylen Orr connected for two hits each, while Jackson Lane, Bam Nelms and Landon Pollard all had one hit apiece.
Against Swain County, Shuler flexed his muscle at the plate by launching a game-ending grand slam. Pitching duties were divvied up between Brooks (two innings), Xamuel Wachacha (1 ⅔ inning) and Rylen Orr (2 ⅓).
Individual stat leaders for the Lady Knights were not made available by The Graham Star’s Wednesday press deadline.
