Depending on when your athlete suits up, cooler temperatures could await when their respective youth football game kicks off this fall.
The Smokey Mountain Youth Conference recently voted to switch to an evening schedule for its typical four-game slate. Games will now follow a 4 p.m./5 p.m./6:30 p.m./8 p.m., format, with PeeWees, Termites, Mites and Midgets to be contested in the respective slots.
Additionally, an optional "5th quarter" will be available for each game.
For those who cannot attend the games in-person, The Graham Star plans to livestream all four of Robbinsville's home slates – Aug. 9, against Cherokee; Aug. 16, with Murphy; Aug. 30, taking on Andrews; and Sept. 20, versus Franklin – on its YouTube channel. Photos from the games can be purchased at geosnapshot.com/grahamstarsports.
At Big Oaks Stadium, tents will still only be allowed along the top row of the seating area and outside the 30-yard lines.
Registration for the Fall 2025 season concludes Friday and can be completed from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., at the Graham County Recreation Department (180 P & J Road, Robbinsville). The cost is $90 and includes a jersey that your athlete can keep at the conclusion of the season.
