Weapon of mass destruction discovered in traffic stop

Robbinsville – Two men were arrested after a stolen sawed-off shotgun was discovered during a traffic stop.  At approximately 10:05 p.m. on June 28, a Graham County Sheriff’s Office deputy performed a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of North Main Street and Rodney Orr Bypass.

Jaymz Brett Jones, 26 of Murphy, N.C., whose Cherokee name is “Ganuteyo” (meaning Rope Twister) passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021, at his residence. Brett was the son of Carrie Smith of Murphy, N.C. and Bud and Tracy Jones of Robbinsville, N.C.

Grace Bernice Watkins, age 93 of Murphy, N.C. passed away Friday, May 7, 2021, at her home.  Ms. Watkins was born April 9, 1928 in Graham County, N.C. to the late Starlin Sawyer and the late Mattie Gladden Sawyer.
