In a span of two days, the Graham County Sheriff’s Office made a pair of arrests to both help combat local larceny and improve safety.

Deputies were dispatched to the Cross Creek community April 14, after receiving a report about suspected larceny of utilities. Events were pieced together until officers arrived at a home, searching for Joshua James (J.J.) Crisp. The front door was open and deputies quickly spotted items that linked the residence to illegal drug activity.

Crisp was detained while a narcotics search warrant was carried out. Inside, the office’s drug enforcement unit found paraphernalia – one item was field-tested and returned a positive result for meth.

Crisp was soon arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.

Two days later, the office’s emergency response team served a high-risk, weapons-related warrant at 2519 Tallulah Road.

Members of the team found a .45-caliber handgun inside the home.

Dale Howard Millsaps, 71, was arrested and charged with possession of firearm by a felon. He later appeared before Graham County Magistrate Carissa Robinson and received a $1 million bond.
