Lake Santeetlah – The community is invited to help keep Lake Santeetlah the pristine marvel that has made it one of Graham County’s crown jewels.
A community cleanup of the lake is planned for 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24
All volunteers will be treated to a bag lunch provided by Avis Phillips, with dinner sponsored by Smoky Mountain Kayak Fishing.
To participate, simply show up at the Cheoah Point Boating Access off Thunderbird Mountain Road. The event will take place all day.
Bag lunches will be distributed on the lake. Dinner will follow at Cheoah Point.
Jared Schuster of Smoky Mountain Kayak Fishing and Randall Veal of Santeetlah Marina & Outfitters – two men with strong ties to the lake – got the ball rolling for a lake cleanup.
“All we want to do is help preserve the lake,” Schuster said.
