Robbinsville – Graham County Schools has announced a big step towards its largest, ongoing project.
Accountability Director Kevin White – who serves as project manager for the district – announced that the county had greenlit a contract for the construction of the new sixth-grade wing at Robbinsville Middle School. The project will be undertaken by Western Builders of Sylva, Inc. at a cost of $4,681,348.
He said district officials had met with outgoing County Manager Becky Garland, Project Manager Jason Marino and other officials to share updates on the project and determine the next step.
He said there had also been phone conversations with the project architects to discuss the contract and various aspects of the project.
“From what I understand, it’s my assumption that after the recommendations have been fixed in the contract, we’re ready to sign the contract and get moving,” White said.
Superintendent Angie Knight also also discussed a new metal building that would go to use behind the bus garage, as part of the project, saying that it would be handled under the same contract.
