Tapoco – The Graham County 911 Center received a call around 1:25 p.m. Saturday that a 65-year-old male had fallen off the Yellow Creek Falls Trail, located off U.S. 129 North.
The caller also advised that the man would need to be carried out.
Members of the Graham County Rescue Squad and EMS responded. Squad member Joel McCracken was the first to reach the injured man, who was about 200 yards up the trail from the parking lot. McCracken advised the man was conscious and breathing.
Squad members used the recently-acquired, wheeled-basket stretcher to move the man down the trail to the parking lot arriving at 2 p.m.
Graham County EMS then transported him to Swain County Community Hospital in Bryson City.
