Ayers deemed homecoming queen
Ally Ayers will never forget hearing her name being called Friday night.
Especially the moment it all sunk in.
“I was very surprised when they announced my name,” said Ayers, who was decreed as Robbinsville High School’s 2021-22 homecoming queen at Modeal Walsh Memorial Stadium. “I was so nervous, I could barely hear what Noah (Crowe, public address announcer) was saying.
“But I feel so honored to be Miss Black Knight.”
Ayers was one of 11 seniors voted onto the court, which she considered as an honor as she stood on the field alongside so many of the friends and peers that she has grown up with.
“I feel very undeserving, because the court was filled with such amazing girls,” Ayers said. “I am so blessed to have grown up with each and every one of them. They have all had such a great impact on my life.
“Every girl on the court deserved a crown.”
The starting setter for the Lady Knights’ volleyball team, Ayers also competes on the softball team and will be returning to the basketball squad in the winter. Aside from her athletic interests, Ayers is a student council member and is also involved with the HOSA, Friends of the Athletes, BETA, Crusaders and FCA clubs.
Ayers has completed many hours of volunteer work for HOSA and the student council, including creating candy bags, creating thank you notes and signs for local health-care workers, plus helping with food banks. She is a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church.
“I would like to thank my mother, Kristy Orr, and my mamaw, Martha Jenkins, for all of their time and effort to make my day so special,” Ayers said. “I would also like to thank Carter Burchfield for being the best escort ever and for helping me out the entire day.”
Ayers was crowned on the field by the previous queen, Gabby Hooper. First runner-up was Halee Anderson, with Patience Frapp being named second runner-up.
