Robbinsville – A restraining order was granted to a female victim, following testimony in Graham County District Court on Tuesday.
The victim, who was allegedly kidnapped and assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, 20-year-old Christopher Nathaniel Rabb, gave testimony of her harrowing experience during the summer incidents. She said that Rabb had physically assaulted her repeatedly in anger, causing her of being unfaithful and not following instructions he had given to her. He also allegedly broke her cell phone after accusing her of infidelity in one instance.
In one incident, he allegedly assaulted her repeatedly at the East Buffalo dump with his fists and later a tree branch. In another, he allegedly pushed her down into a briar thicket past a highway guard rail and threatened to leave her there to die.
When addressed, Rabb – who chose to represent himself in the proceedings – spoke very little, seldom going beyond simple yes and no answers when approving evidence for the case. He denied using any drug other than marijuana in the last six months and stated that he had nothing to say when it was his opportunity to testify.
The victim claimed that Rabb had broken her nose on four separate occasions during the span of their relationship. The victim stated that she remained “terrified” of Rabb.
After hearing the account, District Court Judge Kaleb Wingate granted the restraining order.
Rabb remains incarcerated in the Graham County Jail. He faces charges of first-degree kidnapping, assault serious bodily injury and assault with a deadly weapon serious injury. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of communicating threats.
A probable cause hearing scheduled to take place for 30-year-old Timothy Pollard was postponed due to the alleged victim not being in contact with the office of 43rd Prosecutorial District Attorney Ashley Hornsby Welch.
Pollard faces charges of first-degree forcible rape, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree force sex offense, two counts of sexual servitude adult victim and breaking and entering. Pollard was apprehended following an Aug. 12 car chase on U.S. 129. He remains in Graham County Jail on separate $700,000 and $500,000 bonds.
